ABOUT LIVWELL
LivWell exists in the gap between knowing and living.
It began with a question I couldn’t answer with another qualification: why can we know so much about health and still find it so difficult to feel well?

It started long before the name.
When I was 20, I told my closest friends that one day I wanted to create something in wellbeing—perhaps a retreat or a place where people could come together, learn and feel better. I didn’t yet know what it would look like. I only knew that I was interested in why some things make us feel more alive, more capable and more ourselves. I went on to study Human Movement, work as a personal trainer, complete a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and undertake yoga teacher training. I spent 17 years in education before moving into leadership and program development. Each piece taught me something important. But none of them alone felt like the whole answer.
Nutrition matters, but food is also memory, reward, culture, comfort and routine. Movement matters, but it can energise us or become another way to punish ourselves. Rest matters, but many of us have learned that it needs to be earned. Feeling well was never going to be explained by one qualification, one meal plan or one perfect routine.
For a long time, I thought I needed to be the example.
I kept putting the idea aside because I didn’t believe I was qualified to talk about wellbeing unless I could demonstrate it perfectly.
I wasn’t always consistent. I enjoyed wine, missed workouts, became stressed, ate for comfort and sometimes knew exactly what would help but didn’t do it.
I thought that disqualified me.
Now I understand that it is part of why this work matters to me.
Knowing what supports us does not remove grief, stress, hormones, exhaustion, relationships, responsibility or being human. The interesting question isn’t why we fail to live perfectly. It is what helps us care for ourselves when life is imperfect.

Then life made the question personal.
In my thirties, I went through one of the most difficult periods of my life. Burnout, grief, a difficult relationship, two moves and significant change left me feeling anxious, exhausted and unlike myself.
It took around a year and a half to feel steady again. There wasn’t one breakthrough that brought me back. It happened gradually: nourishing meals, walking, rebuilding strength, better sleep, time outside, honest conversations, boundaries, friendship, moments of fun and small routines I could rely on.
The qualifications helped. But so did patience, connection, self-awareness and accepting that progress rarely happens in a straight line. LivWell grew from that experience and from wanting other women to have a place where all of those pieces were considered together.
Knowing more isn’t always the answer.
Most of us already know that food, movement, sleep and stress affect how we feel. We do not necessarily need another person telling us to eat vegetables, walk more or put our phones away.
Sometimes we need to understand why we do what we do.
LivWell explores the habits, memories, beliefs, rewards, relationships and seasons of life sitting underneath our choices. It combines credible information with honest reflection and practical ideas that still work when motivation disappears and life becomes busy.
What LivWell believes
Food is more than fuel.
Movement should give something back to you.
Rest does not need to be earned.
Happiness is not a permanent state.
Healthy habits are not a measure of moral worth.
Starting small is not the same as failing.
Connection is part of feeling well.
What works in one season may not work in the next.
You can understand what is good for you and still find it difficult.
You do not need to become perfect before you begin.
